Claiming that their salary is not sufficient to meet the cost of living, many Jewish policemen resigned last week from the Tel Aviv police force. They are being replaced by Arabs. This is the first time that the all-Jewish city of Tel Aviv has had Arabs on its force.

Joseph Banner, 29, alias Leib Wagner, alias Yehuda Ben-David, who escaped from the Latrun Detention Camp in August, 1943, together with 19 others, was fined ten pounds today for breaking jail and returned to the camp. Banner was captured last month. He refused the services of an attorney, and addressed the court as sailing the policy of the Palestine Government and the conditions in the Palestine jails.
