More than 200,000 Jewish children have returned to the Jewish religious schools all over the country since the beginning of October, according to an announcement made by Mark Eisner, President of the American Association for Jewish Education, in connection with Jewish Education Week, which started today.
The Jewish religious school is supplementary to the public school, Mr. Eisner emphasized. There are approximately 7,000 teachers in 2,200 religious schools. Intensive enrollment campaigns are being conducted by the Jewish communities in the United States to increase the enrollment figures.
