A million dollar campaign, to finance a broad program of rescue, relief and reconstruction in Europe, and to intensify the struggle against racism, intolerance and anti-Semitism in the United States, was proclaimed today by the Jewish Labor Committee, according to an announcement by Adolph Held, National Chairman of the Committee.
The Committee revealed that the New York offiliates of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union, headed by David Dubinsky, at a special meeting of all their managers and heads of the dress and cloak joint boards, unanimously resolved to raise $150,000 as their share toward the Jewish Labor Committee’s drive for $1,000,000 in 1945. Mr. Dubinsky stressed the constructive achievements of the organization and urged the members of his organization to bend every effort to make the campaign a total success.
