Jews in Slovakia Emerge from Hiding Places; Some Return from Oswiecim Camp

An increasing number of Jews are emerging from their hiding places in Slovakia and a number of Slovakian Jews have returned to the liberated part of the country from the notorious Oswiecim camp, it was reported here today by the National Council of Jews of Czechoslovakia on the basis of reliable information reaching the office of the Council.

The President of the Swiss Confederation, Edward von Steiger, has received H. A. Goodman, leader of the Agudas Israel in London, who is now on a visit to Switzerland, and indicated that Switzerland will admit further transports of Jewish refugees from the Reich despite economic difficulties, it was reported here today by Agudah headquarters, Mr. Goodman was permitted by the Swiss authorities to visit various refugee camps in the country.
