A three-day conference of Jewish social service and welfare agencies in the metropolitan area sponsored by the National Conference of Jewish Social Welfare in conjunction with the National Association of Jewish Center Workers and the National Council for Jewish Education, opened here today at the Y.M.H.A.
In compliance with the request made by the Office of Defence Transportation, the New York regional conference will serve as a substitute for the national conference teld in previous years. More than five hundred representatives of Jewish welfare agencies in Greater New York and its environs, as well as a number of outstanding leaders in the Jewish social service field who are in the city are participating.
The conference will feature reports forums and roundtable discussions on the various phases of social welfare work. Among the major problems to be discussed will be post-war planning for social service agencies, the provision of special services to veterans, overseas relief, and the institution of new forms of social service which will reach an increasing number of people.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
