Buchenwald Children Being Cared for by French Govt. May Be Turked over to Jewish Groups

The alarm felt in Jewish cireles as a result of the removal from Jewish jurisdiction of 92 of 535 Jewish refugee children who arrived here as Friday from Buchenwald may be unfounded it was indicated today, since the eventual disposition of the children has not yet been decided.

The young refugees, who are, meanwhile, being well cared for by the Committee of Spcial Welfare of the Resistance, may evemtually be sent to the OSE home at Meudon were the other Buchenwald children have been quartered, it was indicated here.

The segregation of the 92 youngsters raised a considerable furor at the railway station where they arrived, with Chaplain Robert S. Mercus, who shepharded them from Buchenwald and several Jewish relief workers attached to the Red Creas and UIRRA fighting a losing battle with afficials of the French Ministry of Prisoners and Deportess for custody of the children.
