Returning war veterans today launched a campaign for the expulsion from New Zealand of all enemy aliens, including Jewish refugees, who arrived in this country after 1939, and urged that their property be confiscated.

Alarmed at this campaign, which is being conducted by the veterans’ association, Jewish refugees here have pointed out that they cannot return to Germany because they do not wish to take their children to a country which is still infested with anti-Jewish feelings. The veterans’ group, however, is insisting that all refugees – whether Jewish or non-Jewish – should be ordered to return to Germany and Austria in order to “safeguard the interests of the returning servicemen.”
