In connection with the abolition of anti-Semitic laws and the return of confiscated Jewish property, the Bulgarian Government announced today that “if confiscated property and valuables cannot be returned to the owner, the State will compensate him on the basis of current prices.”
The announcement, which was broadcast by the Sofia radio, specified that all claims must be filed within two months, and that any claims that Jews have against the state must be established before the end of September of this year.
Following the conclusion of a Hechalutz conference in Varna, one hundred Bulgarian Jewish youths, who have been training for eventual settlement in Palestine. left for farms throughout the country, where they will help to relieve the acute shortage of agricultural labor.
