Titel Petresou, president of the Social Democratic Party in Rumania, today appealed to the British Labor Party to “realize the great idea of the old and righteous aspiration of the Jewish people” by establishing a Jewish State in Palestine.

The appeal was made in a statement issued through the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in which the leader of the Social Democratic Party emphasized that his group “always defended the Jewish cause.”

“We recognize the rights of the Jews to establish a Jewish State in Palestine.” his statement said, “At the same time we recognise the right of the Jews remaining in Rumania to choose their nationality and consider themselves a national minority. The 2,000-year-old Jewish desire to re-establish a Jewish State in Palestine should now be realized. This aim will be supported at the next international Socialist conference.”
