Thousands of Jews in Poland, threatened with death if they do not leave the country immediately are continuing to move in carts and on foot to the American-held zone in Germany, it was reported here today.
Many of the fugitives have succeeded in reaching Munich, but others are prevented from continuing their “march” in that direction. Some groups are, therefore, seeking to reach Vienna, the report says.
Non-Jewish inhabitants of Poland arriving here today confirmed that the anti-Jewish terrorist movement in various sections of the country is not growing weaker, but is becoming stronger and has thrown the Jews into a panic. The terrorist activities are centered mainly in Radom and in Cracow where the majority of the surviving Polish Jews reside.
“Leaflets are being distributed in these two cities warning the Jews that they will be killed if they do not leave the country,” one of the arrivals stated. “That these are not idle threats is indicated by the fact that up to now 120 Jews have been killed in Cracow and four in Radom. Only the presence of Red Army units prevents the Hilling of Jews in other cities.”
