President Truman has received no communication from Prime Minister Attlee with regard to his request that Britain permit the admission into Palestine of 100,000 displaced Jews from Europe, it was reiterated today by a White House spokesman.
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency learns that Attlee’s reply will be brought to this country by Secretary of State James F. Byrnes who is now in London. The announcement made yesterday in London that Prime Minister attlee replied to President truman’s letter last month seems to be based on an interim message dispatched by attlee to Truman on sept. 16, informing him that the British reply would be brought to Washington by Byrnes, the JTA was told.
