Anti-Jewish attacks marked the political demonstrations here yesterday which signalled the return to power of Col. Juan Peron. Stopes were thrown at an orthodox synagogue in the Jewish section of the city and anti-Jewish slogans were shouted by demonstrators. In a suburb of Puenos Aires windows were houshed in several Jewish factories.
The liberal daily “Nacional” reports today from Cordoba that windows were houshed there in the new building of a local Jewish bank and damage was inflicted on the building where the bank is now houshed. The local synagogue was also attacked, the paper reports.
(A National Broadcasting Company report from Buenos Aires today said that Peron’s followers are roaming the city plastering up posters reading: “Death to the Jews and Russians.” The New York Post reports that several persons and shops were attacked in the Jewish quarters of Buenos Aires during the pro-Peron demonstrations.)
