The American Jewish Conference today addressed the appeal to Secretary of State James F. Byrnes urging that “the United States Government take the necessary steps for the organization and prompt dispatch to Tripoli of a special commission, representing the five leading world powers, to investigate the origin and circumstances of the four-day assault on the Jewish population of Tripoli.”

“Only an impartial investigation by the leading members of the United Nations will allay the current insistent rumors of a general conspiracy against the Jewish communities in the Middle East,” the request emphasized.
