Representatives of Jewish student groups in twelve countries met here today at the first conference of the Union of Jewish Students to be held since the outbreak of the war. After discussing the multitude of problems facing Jewish students, and most Jews, in Europe, the meeting adopted the following resolutions:
Pledged to fight for the freedom of Jews everywhere, and against racism and Nazism; asked help in the fight for “a democratic Jewish state in Palestine;” demanded representation in all student associations; expressed thanks to the Joint Distribution Committee, the World Jewish Congress and the British Central Jewish Fund for their assistance; and stressed the aid required by Jewish students who are still in camps in Germany.
Brief addresses of welcome were delivered by Judge Leon Meiss, representing the Jewish Consistory and a Miss Himes from UNRRA. A cabled greeting from Prof. Albert Einstein was read.
