The Austrian Government was charged today by leaders of the Jewish community with stalling on the latter’s demand for measures covering restoration to Jews of their property and pre-war positions and legal status.

In a statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, a spokesman for the Jewish Community Council said no action has been secured as yet on the following demands submitted in recent weeks: 1. Restoration of aryanized property. 2. Jewish representation in the Ministry for Property Custody. 3. Dismissal of anti-Semitic public officials.

Although the Government, from Chancellor Leopold Figl down, has promised speedy action for solution of the various Jewish problems, nothing positive has been done, the spokesman stressed. He added that the Jewish community understood that it was not possible to solve these problems within a few weeks, but objected to the fact that the Government has not even drafted a plan for coping with the situation.

He revealed that unless favorable action is secured shortly, the community council plans to issue a statement to the Anglo-American press accusing the Government of dilatory tactics and with being unwilling to accedes to the Jewish demands.
