A letter of appreciation from President Truman to William Rosenwald, honorary president of the National Refugee Service, was made public today at the General Assembly, in connection with the closing of the Emergency Refugee shelter at Fort Ontario. The letter was in reply to a report from Mr. Rosenwald to the resident disclosing that the resettlement of the Oswego refugees had been completed by the NRS in less than four weeks.

“I am most happy that the refugees at Oswego have been taken care of” President Truman wrote. “It seems to me to be the best method in which to handle it. I appreciate also your contribution to public service in acting as honorary president of the national Refugee Service.”
