Warning Britain’s Labor Government that it had already lost the confidence of substantial elements of progressive Jewish groups in America by its stand on the Palestine issue, Rabbi Philip Bernstein, former director of the committee on Army and Navy religious activities of the Jewish Welfare Board, who is here to participate in the United Palestine drive, called for an immediate change of policy.
Rabbi Bernstein, addressing a UPA meeting last night, said that the Labor Government “must again see that Palestine alone promises a solution for the Jews. Only the Jewish solution of the Palestine problem,” he added, “can bring emancipation to the backward Middle East.”
