The non-Jews of Dallas, Taxes, contributed $70,000 in one week to the United Jewish Appeal campaign for $100,000,000, the U.J.A. announced today.
The non-Jewish drive was conceived by a Catholic rector, a Methodist minister, and a Baptist layman and was sparked by two of the city’s leading newspapers, the Times-Herald and the News. The newspapers pointed out in editorials that the Jews of the city had taken part in every community charity drive, and that now they needed the aid of all Christians as well as Jews. With the $70,000 contributed by Christians. The U.J.A. campaign in Dallas passed the $750,000 mark, nearly twice the quota of ?00,000 set for the city.
