Most of the 14,000 Jewish refugees in Shanghai cannot be repatriated and will have to be resettled in other countries, it is disclosed by UNRRA in its sixth report, which has just been submitted to Congress by President Truman.
It says that chief responsibility for the care of these refugees has been assumed by the China National Relief and Rehabilitation Administration, with UNRRA assisting and advising. Shelter is being improved and food provided.
