A provisional Jewish Government for Palestine “will shortly be proclaimed,” it was announced at a press conference here today by Dr. L. Altman, chairman of the executive of the World New Zionist Organization, who has just arrived in this country. Its primary task, he said, must be the speedy transfer to Palestine of all Jews in Europe, in Arab lands and in other countries, who wish to settle there. The immediate goal is the transfer to Palestine of 1,000,000 Jews in the first year, he added.

“In an effort to secure her grip over Palestine, Britain is using certain elements in Arab countries as a spearhead in her campaign against Jewish Palestine,” Dr. Altman charged. “It is generally understood, however, in the Middle East that the conflict is not between Jews and Arabs – as the British present the case – but between Jews and Britain.” He added that “it is the growing conviction among the Jews of Palestine that unless radical steps are taken by the United States to ensure a just solution of the Palestine problem, they will have to take matters into their own hands.”
