The Prague Jewish Community, for the first time since liberation, today decided to impose a community tax on its members in order to meet its budget which at present is supported by the Joint Distribution Committee.

The local office of the J.D.C. today announced special grants to aid newly-married Jewish couples, and to support needy Jewish families with new-born babies. The newly-weds will get a one-time grant of 5,000 crowns (about $100) while the new parents will receive 3,000 crowns, on condition that the baby is registered as Jewish.
