An appeal for American chalutzim to come to Palestine to help defend and build the Jewish national home was voiced here today by Moshe Shapiro, a member of the Jewish Agency executive, addressing the national convention of the Rabbinical Council of America.
He said that the British wanted to dissolve the Agency and disarm the Haganah and denied that the Agency directed the Haganah. Shapiro said he expected that the 100,000 Jews from Europe would be admitted, but stressed only a Jewish commonwealth would be in a position to give adequate assistance to European Jews.
The Council voted today to establish a pension plan for the rabbis who are members of the organization.
