Australian officials here have ceased issuing immigration visas in Germany it was learned, due to strong political pressure being brought against the government by groups who objected to the arrival of refugees while Australian servicemen and their families, as well as many civilian nationals, were unable to obtain passage home from England and other countries.

A newly-formulated priority list drawn up by the Australian Government places refugees fifth, thereby effectively halting the trickle of emigrants who have been proceeding to Australia during the past few months. The last shipment of Jewish refugees headed for Australia is expected to embark at Marseilles next week.
