The Soviet Government appropriate 7,500,000 rubles for improving the care of mothers and children in the Jewish autonomous region of Birobidjan within the last two years, it was reported today.
During 1945 the sum of 3,500,000 rubles was allotted to the autonomous Jewish region, while nearly 4,000,000 rubles were earmarked for this purpose for 1946. Last year, grants to mothers amounted to more than 2,000,000 rubles. The report added that the present nursery and kindergarten system will be enlarged during the present five-year plan.
