A statement issued in Alexandria today on behalf of the ex-Mufti of Jerusalem, which appears in the local press, charges that Zionists may have planted in German official records “forged documents” linking the Mufti with German counter-intelligence.

“There is a great possibility that Zionists managed to forge these documents and put them among German official records,” the statement said. “All the Mufti’s activities were and will be for the sake of the Arab and Palestine cause.

“Regarding the allegation that the Mufti attended a reception given by the Arab colony in Berlin, attended also by German intelligence chiefs, that is possible and there is nothing wrong with it,” the Mufti’s spokesman said. “Officials of Governments usually attend such receptions.”
