British troops today cordoned off and searched the fifth Jewish settlement in four days.

The village was Kfar Menahem in the Ramleh district, half of whose population of 200 are American Jewish settlers. No details of the search were released by the authorities.

Five hundred Jewish detainees at the Latrun prison today offered passive resistance to British airborne troops who searched their quarters. Apparently fearing an “armed revolt,” the authorities posted large forces around the camp.

Nine detainees were removed from the camp, and it is believed that they will be deported to Eritrea. It is reported that a number of persons were injured during the search.
