A decision to raise $1,000,000 for rescue work among European Jews not done by other relief organizations was adopted over the weekend at a two-day convention of the Labor Zionist Committee for Relief and Rehabilitation.
The convention closed last night with a “hunger banquet” at the Essex House at which some 700 guests paid $100 each for coffee and cake. Featured speakers at the dinner included Marc Jarblum, French Zionist leader who came to this country to attend the convention, and James G. McDonald, former member of the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry on Palestine. Louis Segal, chairman of the relief committee, presided.
