Ten fellowships will be awarded South American Jews for rabbinical studies at the Yeshiva University in New York by the Joint Distribution Committee, its local office has announced.
Three scholarships will be given to Argentineans, three to Uruguayans, two to Peruvians, one to a Brazilian and one to an Ecuadoran. The committee which will make the awards in Argentina consists of Chief Rabbi Guillermo Schlesinger, Mizrachi leader Herman Klein, Samuel Rabinovich, chairman of the Zionist Central Council, and Jose Mendelsohn, a well known Jewish journalist.
