One long-term solution to the Middle Eastern problem is the creation of a Jordan Valley Authority financed and built jointly by British and American interests but controlled by an independent Jewish commonwealth and by independent neighboring Arab states, Richard Crossman, former British member of the Anglo-American inquiry committee on Palestine, declared last night at a Herald Tribune forum on current problems.
Palestine is a perfect example of the “weakness” of the trusteeship principle, Crossman declared, pointing out that the work of the Jews there is the “finest example” of pioneering achievement in the history of white settlement overseas. Nevertheless, he continued, British colonial officials came to Palestine prejudiced in favor of the Arabs.
