A four-day conference of HIAS representatives from most European countries, Palestine and North Africa will close tomorrow after laying down plans for aiding Jewish emigrants from eastern Europe and studying prospects for immigration and resettlement of displaced Jews in the United States, Australia, Canada, the Latin-American countries and Palestine.

Isaac J. Asofsky, executive director of HIAS, expressed the hope that President Truman’s announcement that he plans to ask Congress to admit more displaced persons to the U.S. will lead other countries to take similar action. He reported that several groups of Jews have already left Germany for Australia and efforts are being made to secure the admission of additional refugees to that country.
