Jewish organizations in Italy have submitted a memorandum to the local authorities in the town of Lecce asking them to take action to suppress the activities of a fascist group which is conducting an anti-Semitic campaign in the area.

The chief target of the campaign are some 4,500 refugee Jews living in four villages on the Southern Italian coast. The anti-Jewish drive is being led by local property owners who are hoping to evict the Jews from the homes where they are now sheltered.
