Most of the 56 American delegates who will attend the World Zionist Congress at Basle sailed today aboard the Queen Elizabeth. The delegation was headed by Dr. Abba Hillel Silver, president of the Zionist Organization of America.
In a statement to the press Dr. Silver declared that “the Congress will meet in a bitter and disillusioned mood, and unless a measure of confidence can be restored, it is likely to adopt policies and measures which will be sharply at variance with those which it has pursued up to now and which, unfortunately, have yielded such complete frustration.”
The entire Hadassah contingent, led by Mrs. Moses P. Epstein, president of the organization, also were aboard the Queen Elizabeth.
