A hand grenade was thrown into the large Orthodox synagogue in Club, Transylvania, during the week-end, causing extensive damage, but no casualties, it was learned today. The synagogue is the sole Jewish house of worship in the city, all others having been destroyed by the Germans.

Police are investigating the outrage, and the local press and non-Jewish leaders have joined in condemning the incident. As a result of the public protests, the police have agreed to place an armed guard around the synagogue.
