The eleventh world conference of the Women’s International Zionist Organization opened here today with a ceremony honoring the millions of Jewish women who were killed by the Nazis.

In a darkened hall representatives of 53 branches of the organization from countries throughout the world marched in a procession, each carrying a lighted candle which she placed in a menorah on the speakers’ dias.

Following a tribute to the martyrs by Chayele Grossman of Warsaw, Rebecca Sieff, president of the WIZO, reported on the organization’s activities during the past seven years and its rescue work since the liberation of Europe. Hadassah Samuel, an officer, spoke of the future work of WIZO.
