The British Government today told the Intergovernmental Committee on Refugees, which is now in session here, that it no longer was willing to provide half of the group’s budget. Up to now, the United States and Britain have furnished all of the committee’s funds. The projected budget for the first six months of 1947 is $14,400,000. Britain wants some of the other thirty-odd members of the committee to contribute towards its operations.
