An authoritative Colonial Office source told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that there was no truth to a Jerusalem dispatch in the Daily Telegraph to the effect that the 8,500 Jewish deportees now held in Cyprus would be transferred to Palestine if the Zionist Congress authorized the Jewish Agency to attend the London Conference on Palestine.

The Telegraph report said that Jewish leaders in London had discussed the arrangement with the British Government. It also stated that the terrorists would continue the truce now in effect for the duration of the Congress, until after the London talks are held.
