Polish Clergy Ask Synagogues of Liquidated Communities Be Converted into Churches

Church leaders in the Cracow district have contacted Jewish religious leaders here, suggesting that synagogue buildings belonging to pre-war Jewish communities which no longer exist be converted into churches. It is unlikely that the Union of Orthodox Rabbis will agree to the proposal since Jewish religious tradition bars the conversion of synagogues into churches.
