The Uruguayan Government will continue to maintain its friendly attitude toward the Jewish people and do everything for the defense of Jewish rights everywhere, Tomas Berreta, president-elect of Uruguay, today told Moises Toff, director of the Latin-American department of the Jewish Agency office.

Here on a visit at the invitation of the U.S. Government, Berreta expressed great interest in the present situation in Palestine and regret over the fact that a final solution of the Palestine problem has not yet been reached. He said that he believes that Jews and Arabs in Palestine can live together in peace.
