Church of England Assembly Says Dp’s Must Not Be Left to Mercy of Former Enemies

The Assembly of the Church of England unanimously adopted a resolution urging that all displaced persons in British-occupied territories be resettled elsewhere before British troops are withdrawn.

The Dean of Chichester described the “semi-slavery” under which the DP’s, including the Jews, live and warned that they must not be left to the mercy of their former enemies. He appealed to Britain to take a fair share. His stand was endorsed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, head of the Anglican Church.
