American Military Court Dismisses Some Charges Against Displaced Jews in Austria

The American military court hearing charges of rioting, assault, and interference with traffic against five displaced Jews from the nearby Reidenburg camp today dismissed some of the charges against the defendant in no case were all charges dismissed.

A defense motion to quash the charge that Rabbi Moses Weies had interfered with traffic was granted, but another motion to throw charges of participating in a riot was denied. Charges of interference with traffic in the case of Pinkus Haggraf and of assault by Josef Cehanowski were also dismissed, but the court refused to acquit Lipa Skolski and Isaac Morgenatern of assault. The motions for dismissal were introduced following completion of the prosecution case and before defense witnesses were called.
