The reply from Italy agreeing to cooperate with Britain in preventing Jewish refugees from illegally emigrating to Palestine has ?aised a number of points which the Foreign Office is now considering, a spokesman ?evealed today.

Although he refused to state what the points were, it is reported that Italy asked whether Britain is prepared to share in meeting the cost of maintaining in Italy refugees who are prevented from leaving.

The spokesman also stated that he was not in a position to either affirm or ?deny that Poland’s decision to halt illegal emigration of Jews was taken after representations by the British Government. Asserting that no notes on the subject were sent to any government except France and Italy, he disclosed that British representatives in various countries are under standing orders to discuss the matter with the governments to which they are accredited whenever they think it necessary.
