Moses A. Leavitt, executive vice-chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee, is leaving today for Europe, where he will survey the situation confronting Jewish survivors on the continent and assistance efforts in their behalf by the J.D.C. The trip will take him to France, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Italy, Poland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The J.D.C. announced today that 129 Jewish men, women and children emigrated from Shanghai aboard the S.S. General Meigs this week with J.D.C. assistance. The sailing of the General Meigs brings to 1,570 the number of Shanghai Jewish survivors who have left the city since the first of the year. J.D.C. emigration efforts in their behalf include the handling of necessary visas and affidavits, representation before consulates and the arrangement of passage.
