A demand by Governor Thomas E. Dewey of New York that this country do everything in its power to bring about a decision of the Palestine question in the United Nations which will be just, that will see to it that the ? of Jews under the Palestine Mandate be not abrogated,” was made public today the American Zionist Emergency Council.
Governor Dewey stated his position on Palestine in a letter to Dr. Abba Hillel ?lver, chairman of the Council. “I believe profoundly that whatever permanent poli?cal solutions be arrived at, unrestricted Jewish immigration and colonization into Palestine must take place and that there be no hindrances on the development of the Jewish National Home in Palestine,” he declared. The governor also called for an in?rim arrangement “whereby the Jewish refugees of Europe will be permitted to go to Palestine in large numbers,” pending a final decision by the United Nations.
