Bernard Baruch was today presented with the annual “Brotherhood Award” of the Fraternal League of the Jewish Education Committee of New York for the “most significant contribution to the promotion of human brotherhood.” ## award was given to Mr. Baruch for his efforts in furthering world peace. The presentation of the scroll was made in Mr. Baruch’s office by a delegation headed by state Supreme Court Justice Edgar J. Nathan, Jr.
Former recipients of the League’s award are the late Franklin D. Roosevelt, ##. Arthur H. Compton, University of Chicago physicist; Supreme Court Justice Frank ##phy and former UNRRA Director General Herbert H. Lebman. The Fraternal League was formed to stimulate functioning organizations to disseminate Jewish education through their membership and in the community at large. Affiliated with the League are over ?,000 organizations and societies in New York, including the B’nai B’rith, Independent ##der Brith Abraham, Free Sons of Israel, Worker’s Circle, and the Jewish National Worker’s Alliance.
