Senator Robert F. Wagner of New York today ?alled on the State Department to publish the material it possesses on the ex-Mufti of Jerusalem and his collaboration with the Axis during the war. Such publication, ## said, would help the United Nations in reaching a decision on Palestine “and will help to determine our course of action in the Middle East.”

In a letter of June 6 to Secretary of State George C. Marshall, Senator Wagner said he considers “most urgent” the publication by the Department of documents revealing the Mufti’s “role in the extermination of the Jews,” and his activities in the ?raqi revolt of 1941 and as an Axis agent since then.

“Because this material is of such unquestioned interest to the Congress and of the American people, and because the United Nations is now investigating the Palestine question,” said Wagner, “I deem it most urgent that the Department of State should publish all the material it has in its possession regarding this important latter.”

Under-Secretary of State Dean Acheson said in August 1946 that documents establishing collaboration of the ex-Mufti with the Axis were being translated by the state Department and would be published at an opportune time as part of a collection of material on the Axis.
