World Federation of Trade Unions Parley Endorses Jewish Homeland in Palestine

A heated four-hour debate today culminated in the ?option by the general council of the World Federation of Trade Unions, meeting here, ## a resolution reaffirming the earlier stand of the WFTU that “the Jewish people ##st be enabled to continue the rebuilding of Palestine as their national home.”

The council also endorsed resolutions calling on the United Nations for a prompt and final solution” of the Palestine problem; urged Arab and Jewish workers a Palestine to find a basis for rapprochement and authorized the general secretary ## name a committee to study the Palestine situation.

The debate was opened by Zalman Rubashev, editor of the Tel Aviv Labor daily ##var, who described the tragedy of the displaced Jews and warned that Palestine represented their only hope of salvation. Delegates from several Arab countries attacked the resolution, although Henry Nassar, of the Palestine Labor League, which cooperates with the Histadruth, backed it. The U.S. delegates supported the resolution.
