The World Agudas Israel executive has submitted a (##)randum to the United Nations urging the Economic and Social Council to reject a proposal for reforming the calendar in such fashion that the Sabbath and Holy Days (##)d not be celebrated on the same day of the week each year.
The Agudah message, signed by political secretary H.A. Goodman, charged that the proposal violated freedom of religion as outlined in the Atlantic Charter and (##)d “destroy existing and historic periodicity of the Jewish Sabbath with the (##)est economic and social consequences.”
