Publication of the first section of a Hebrew Braille edition of the Bible was announced today by the Jewish Braille Institute of America. This will be the first time in history that blind persons will be able to study the Bible in its original language in Braille.
The cost of producing the Bible in Hebrew Braille will be $20,000 and will require two more years to complete. To date only the Pentateuch has been published. Among the leading scholars on the advisory council sponsoring the project are Dr. Stephen S. Wise, president of the Jewish Institute of Religion, Dr. Theodor Gaster, of the Library of Congress and Dr. Samuel Belkin, president of Yeshiva University,
