Frances P. Bolton, Republican of Chio, and Chester E. Merrow, New Hampshire Republican, members of a House Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee which left this week to investigate social movements abroad, will spend several days in Palestine as part of a side trip they will take to countries of the Near East.
The five-member sub-committee will study “social movements that cross international frontiers” such as educational and health programs and agricultural improvements. Mrs. Bolton and Merrow will probably spend about six days in Palestine about the end of October, a committee aide said. They will also visit Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Syria and severl North African countries.
Other members of the sub-committee include Reps. Franklin J. Maloney, Pennsylvania Republican, who will go to countries of Westorn Europe, and Donald L. Jackson, Republican of California and Olin E. Teague, Texas Democrat, who will visit Greece and Turkey. The committee is expected back about the end of November to make its report.
