Resettlement of Europe’s Jewish DP’s and a bread program of assistance and rehabilitation for the Jews who will remain is the only solution for the problem of Europe’s Jewish population, Moses W. Beckelman, vice-president of the European executive council of the Joint Distribution Committee, declared here during the week-end.

Speaking at the annual meeting of the J.D.C.’s East Central Region, Beckelman, who arrived from Europe last week, told the 400 delegates from six states in the area that while it is a governmental and intergovernmental problem to provide a haven for the DP’s, it is basically the responsibility of American Jewry to provide assistance for the Jews who are left behind. Lester D. Alexander, of Toledo, was re-elected chairman of the region.
